Holiday sales aren’t as cut-throat as they used to be. Deals used to be upwards of 70% off, and the markdowns used to lure hordes of shoppers to stores and malls around the country to (literally) fight over savings.

But now, there’s the luxury of shopping from our couches. Is the trade-off sales you’d also see on any given Labor Day? Maybe. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some real steals on the market. Especially on Amazon — Kindle deals are still riding high for Cyber Monday. But which Kindles are worth snagging today? Only these three, and here’s why.

The Kindle Scribe is Amazon’s digital notebook to replace all paper ones. In the last two months since I started using a Scribe, my stack of notebooks and spiral-bound agendas has sat on the corner of my desk completely untouched. While it doesn’t feel exactly like pen on paper, its unique texture and versatility are definitely worth its weight in gold.

But, as I’ve claimed before, the Scribe has a wince-worth price tag for being a notebook replacement alone (even if it’s also an e-reader). I wouldn’t buy it again at full price, but I’m very glad to have it in my possession. So, that means the only good time to add it to yours is when it’s on sale.

The Colorsoft is on sale right now for only $170 — a record low for Amazon and 32% off. However, I’ll highlight what puts this deal at the bottom of my “best” list: 16 GB might seem endless storage for traditional e-books (I’ve never once come close to hitting capacity on my Paperwhite), but graphic novels take up much more data per page.
