How I access hundreds of free live shows and movies using just my LG TV

In 2026, free, ad-supported television (FAST) services are abundant in the entertainment industry. Tubi, Pluto TV, Google Freeplay, The Roku Channel, Amazon Prime Video, and more all offer access to hundreds of free channels, shows, and movies, all without requiring a recurring subscription fee to take advantage of.

LG Channels, which is powered under-the-hood by Xumo, is one such FAST service. It currently boasts over 400 free channels, encompassing TV shows, breaking news, sports, comedies, feature films, and a variety of other genres. All that’s required to access LG Channels (aside from a 2016 or newer webOS-powered LG smart TV) is a stable internet connection — refreshingly, an LG account isn’t required to get started.

Note that the LG Channels service is available in a number of, but not all countries. At the time of writing, many major markets within North America, South America, Europe, and Asia are currently supported. The content featured within LG Channels also varies based on jurisdiction, subject to regional licensing agreements and other market factors.

How to get free live TV on your LG smart television set

LG’s webOS comes standard with the Xumo-powered LG Channels application

To get started with free, live and on-demand movies and TV shows on your LG smart TV, simply navigate to your home screen using your included remote control, and then select the LG Channels application icon from the available options. From here, you’ll be able to browse through a massive library of content, with featured channels, movies, and more all curated within a single interface.

If the LG Channels app isn’t already installed on your webOS-powered LG smart TV, you can download it for free by visiting the LG Content Store.

You can search for specific content using the magnifier glass tool on the upper left-hand side of the screen, and slightly below that is the tab to switch to Live TV content. To exit LG Channels, simply hit the home button on your remote, or tap on the box-shaped icon located in the bottom left-hand corner of the app’s interface.

While there’s no LG Channels mobile app for iPhone, iPad, or Android devices, the service can be accessed on desktop using a web browser. This web-based version of LG Channels, called LG Channels WEB, doesn’t support the full breadth of free, live content, but it does include a limited selection of programming in guide format.
