Microsoft Expands Native Support for ASUS ROG Ally Lineup With Optimized Game Profiles

Microsoft has announced a significant update for the ASUS ROG Ally and ROG Ally X handheld consoles, introducing official optimization profiles for 28 additional titles. This expansion brings the total number of games featuring native “Default Game Profiles” to nearly 70, reflecting a monthly commitment to improving the handheld gaming experience on Windows.

The primary objective of these native profiles is to bridge the gap between PC flexibility and console-like convenience. Specifically designed for titles purchased via the Xbox Store, these configurations automatically calibrate power consumption limits and frame rate targets. By eliminating the need for manual fine-tuning, the system ensures an ideal balance between high performance and battery longevity—a critical factor for users playing in portable mode.

Forza Horizon 6 and Major Additions

The highlight of the May update is the upcoming Forza Horizon 6. Developed by Playground Games and scheduled for release on May 19, the arcade racer arrives with day-one optimization for the ROG Ally family. This ensures that the hardware can handle the demanding graphics of the new entry immediately upon launch.

In addition to the flagship racing title, 27 other games have been added to the compatibility list, including:

  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Borderlands 3
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Notably, Microsoft indicated that certain demanding titles are optimized exclusively for the ROG Ally X. This suggests that while the base model may still run these games, the enhanced hardware of the “X” variant is required to meet the specific performance benchmarks set by the official profiles.

This rollout follows a broader Xbox software update that introduced early testing for Auto SR (Super Resolution). Similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS, this technology aims to boost performance and visual fidelity, particularly when the handheld is connected to external monitors. Users can access these new profiles and features through the latest system updates available as of Tuesday, May 5.
