Motorola Expands Android 17 Beta Program To Premium Devices

Motorola has announced a significant expansion of its Android 17 beta program, incorporating a new selection of high-end smartphones into its early testing phase. While the brand’s rollout of the previous Android 16 stable version continues, this latest move signals an accelerated pace for next-generation software development. Notably, the expansion marks a shift from mid-range exclusivity to include flagship models such as the Razr 70 Ultra and Razr 60 Ultra.

Motorola distinguished itself as the first third-party manufacturer to launch an Android 17 beta initiative, commencing just one week after Google’s initial release. By including premium “Signature” series devices in this latest batch, the company is providing a broader user base with early access to upcoming features and system enhancements.

Participation and Installation Process

Users with compatible devices in supported regions can apply for the program through the Motorola Feedback Network (MFN). The enrollment process involves several standardized steps:

Once an application is approved, participants receive the beta software via an Over-the-Air (OTA) update. However, Motorola advises that beta builds are intended for testing and may contain bugs; consequently, installation on primary “daily driver” devices is generally discouraged.

Release Timeline and Stability

Google has currently released three public betas of Android 17, with the operating system having already reached platform stability. A final, stable version is expected to debut on Google Pixel devices in June 2026. Following this, third-party manufacturers like Motorola will undergo a final optimization period. Current projections suggest that Motorola will begin the stable rollout of Android 17 across its broader device portfolio during the third quarter of 2026. This timeline represents a concerted effort by the brand to improve its software update frequency and maintain competitiveness in the Android market.
